Walking into a new gym for the first time can feel uncertain. This page removes that uncertainty. Here's exactly what happens from the moment you book to the moment you leave — step by step, minute by minute.
Every first session at KambaFit follows the same structure. The Dynamic Movement Assessment comes first — always. It's not a formality. It's the foundation everything else is built on.
After booking your first session, you'll receive a short intake form asking about your training history, any injuries or limitations, and what you're working toward. This takes about 5 minutes and gives Coach Chris a head start before you walk in the door.
Your first session starts with a brief conversation — not a sales pitch. Coach Chris will review your intake form, ask a few follow-up questions, and explain what the session will look like. You'll understand the plan before anything starts.
The warm-up is the assessment. You'll move through 7 fundamental patterns while Coach Chris observes and scores each one. This is not a fitness test — there's no pass or fail. It's a baseline that tells Coach Chris exactly how to structure your program.
Based on your DMA results, Coach Chris builds your session in real time. If your score is high, you train hard from the start. If your score reveals restrictions, the session emphasises corrective work first — building the foundation before adding load. Either way, you leave having done real work.
After the session, Coach Chris walks you through your DMA results — your MQS score, which movements showed compensations, and what that means for your program. You'll leave with a clear picture of where you are and a specific plan for where you're going.
No. The DMA meets you exactly where you are. Whether you're coming back from an injury, haven't trained in years, or are already active — the assessment adapts the program to your current reality, not an ideal.
Note it in your intake form and tell Coach Chris at the start of the session. The DMA is specifically designed to identify restrictions and work around them. Injuries are information, not disqualifiers.
Plan for 60 minutes. The DMA takes about 10 minutes as part of the warm-up, leaving 35–40 minutes of actual training and 10 minutes for results review.
Athletic clothing, training shoes, and water. The facility has a water station. No equipment is required — everything is provided.
Your DMA results are saved in the athlete app. Coach Chris will recommend a session frequency based on your goals and schedule. The DMA is re-administered every 3–4 weeks to track your progress objectively.
The DMA is only done in the first session (and then re-tested periodically). After that, your warm-up includes your assigned correctives and the session goes straight into training. The first session is slightly longer because of the results review at the end.
The DMA is included in every first session. No separate assessment booking required. Show up, move, and leave with a clear picture of where your body is and where it's going.
